Nice Blog! Future planning is necessary and old age needs the most care. Nothing is free in market economy and availing assisted living facilities is no difference.

Everything is not in the reach of everybody and so are these assisted living nursing facilities i.e. nursing homes. However, there should be rules and regulations to make these facilities affordable for everyone like Govt. is taking action against untrained and unskilled nurses in near future. It will help improve the standard of these facilities.

The raise in prices is really high. Assisted Living Facilities are in competition and govt should make such moves that they become affordable for everybody since they can play a pivotal role to accommodate a vast majority of people in them.

Parents are important to us, as they grow old we should payback what they did to us when we were young. A home health care should be given to them.

I am happy to read your article on sedentary lifestyle. I care for my mother and she wants to sit or lay in front of the TV all day. Not get dressed or be active at all. I told her it would help with her arthritis and she would gain back some muscle plus the constipation she battles all the time would probably not be as bad.I have shared this wiith her (she is 77) and I am hoping she will realize what I have been trying to explain to her. Thank you!!

It's key to share information and messages, which support research that look for innovative ways to help with dementia. This is a vital cause. Especially with the aging baby boomer population, who will take care of us?

Cathy, you want to be patient and supportive with your mother. There is no ideal timeline for her recovery, everyone heals at their pace. Also, speak with your mother's doctor and advocate for her. If the doctor believes she should be functioning at a higher level than she is, ask if you could utilize a different company to provide therapy.

I would like to add that an important, and overlooked action is to take care of yourself. It is important for you, as a main caregiver for your mom, to ensure you don't burnout. One suggestion is to hire a home care agency that provides respite so you can take time for yourself.
